The Master's University Campus Extension

Commercial

Santa Clarita, CA

This project envisions a new academic and spiritual core for The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California — a private Christian college committed to faith, scholarship, and community. Rooted in the timeless beauty of the California Craftsman style, the project emphasizes craftsmanship, natural materials, and a deep connection between architecture, landscape, and faith.

At the heart of the campus stands The Master’s Chapel, a 1,600-seat worship hall designed with a traditional cross-shaped plan oriented to the east, symbolizing the university’s dedication to Christ as the center of life and learning. The main sanctuary is complemented by a 400-seat lower chapel below, providing a more intimate setting for smaller gatherings, prayer, and reflection.

Surrounding the chapel are four key buildings that form an integrated academic and community hub:

A Science Building, designed for modern laboratories and interdisciplinary collaboration.

A Math and Kinesiology Building, combining analytical and physical sciences in flexible, light-filled spaces.

A Practice Gymnasium serving basketball and volleyball programs, seamlessly integrating a Dining Hall and Cafeteria to encourage fellowship and wellness.

A Welcome Center, serving as the gateway for visitors and prospective students, showcasing the university’s mission and hospitality.

Sustainability and stewardship are key design principles, with features such as shaded walkways, natural ventilation, and efficient daylighting strategies that respond to the Santa Clarita climate. The result is a timeless, harmonious addition to The Master’s University campus — a place where faith, learning, and design excellence come together.
